Accident on Corner of Winchester and Waterloo - Fairfield County
The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital as a precaution and I believe
he will be fine. The other driver was walking around so hopefully that means she is okay!
The irony of these pictures is that they were taken on October 3, 2009. This
intersection is scheduled to be turned into a 4-Way stop on October 9th.
Fairfield County placed the warning signs regarding the changeover over in the last
several weeks, but traffic on Winchester Road still has the right-of-way
presently. The driver on Waterloo Road had the stop sign, with the small
sign reminder, that cross traffic DOES NOT stop. Regardless, she allegedly
caused the accident. The vehicles ended up on the signposts! True
irony don't you think? A major problem with this intersection is that
Winchester and Waterloo cross at an angle. I always pull to the right and
stop when I am travelling on Waterloo towards my home so I can look at traffic
on Winchester coming towards me. It is an odd angle and you have to be
very careful to look both ways. To other drivers not familiar with the
streets, it would look to them like I was getting ready to turn right when in
fact I am just trying to angle my vehicle so I can see both ways more clearly.
